It’s Park Time!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 2:56 am by

Alright, here is the second new toy segment.  And a movie to boot (;) enjoy Sally).

Part of our new stuff is a brand new stroller for Aissa May and a GoPro camera for Adelaide (ok, well, it’s for me).  Aissa and Adelaide can’t really enjoy going to the park together because Aissa can’t go very far before tuckering out and she has arthritis in her shoulder and a patellar luxation of her left rear leg.  And Adelaide can go for miles and miles and miles.  To remedy this dilemma I got a doggyride stroller for her.  The other toy, the gopro, I just thought would be fun.  Today we went to the park and I made a short movie of our visit.  The GoPro camera is cool, but I need to work on a better location to mount it.  On this trip, I had it on Adelaide’s chest (harness) and it mostly captured her nose.  We’ll work on it.

Pretty Fall Colors

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:39 am by

I was just checking instagram and that is where Adelaide’s daycare posts pictures… they had gotten this pretty picture of my girl in the fall leaves.  She is loving the fall coolness and being able to play in all the leaves.  (By the way, her daycare is ceasing daycare services as of 12/1, so we have to find a new one :().  Wish us luck.

New Toys – Pet Tracker

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , at 9:56 pm by

We’ve gotten some new toys.  I’m not going to tell you everything right now…we’ll spread it out over the next couple weeks.  But for today, we want to tell you about the pet tracker we got.  It is pretty cool.  And it is giving me some much needed peace of mind.

I got a Tagg Pet Tracker for Miss Adventurous Adelaide.

It’s really small and just clips on her coller (and we still get to keep our pretty collar and not get stuck with some collar that has to be used).  This is what it looks like and the square thing is its’ docking station to recharge the battery and update the software.

I’ve been tracking her while I’m at work and she’s at daycare.  While I’m sitting on the couch and she’s just running around outside… just have to make sure it works, ya know.  So when I say find her on the computer or on my phone, I can see this little map and a dot that says “here I am”. 😀

And you can also see where she’s been with these little dots on the map.  Pretty cool.  It’s not bad on accuracy either.  The other night it said she was at the back to the left of the house.  I checked on her and she was actually right behind the house so it was like 25 yards off.  Not bad.

Extra bonus, it tracks her activity.  At the end of the day I can see a chart of how active she was.

And it will also chart it by time of day and historical activity…

Cool, hunh?

I’m not a rep for this company or anything and I don’t know if this tracker is any better or worse than any other.  I just thought I’d share our new toy with you all.  I’m a bit of a gadget head and I love technology toys.

I’ll show you more toys later. 😀

More Playtime! (Because there is never enough)

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:11 am by

Miss Adelaide has this habit of bringing her toys to me and asking me to play from the end of the couch.  She jumps up and pounces on my forehead with whatever baby doll she’s chosen.  And then she bounces the dolly on my forehead for a bit.  (She’s subtle like her momma)  Here is a pictorial of this ritual.

Hey Mom!  I have a dolly!

Are you paying attention?

I wuv you!

How was that?

I’ve got my paw on you!

Adelaide’s Little Sisters

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:41 pm by

Happy Hump Day!  Today, we are going to share some pictures of Adelaide and Aissa’s little sisters.  They don’t get much air time and they deserve to show off every now and then.  So, no, they are not dogs.  And, yes, they have 4 legs, not 3.  But here they are anyways.

Morrigan is not happy to be sporting fairy wings.

Better picture of her wings

And Mathilde is thinking of ways to murder me at this point. 😀

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Karma, Adelaide, Aissa, Mathilde, and Morrigan (and our forever sweet pea angel Brendol)

Especially for Sally and Hannah – Video

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:01 pm by

Sally asked for a video showing how Adelaide pesters Mathilde, a long time ago.  I never seem to have the phone with me when they are at it.   And they were at it this morning, for quite some time, but I only managed to catch the last few seconds.  So this is short and sweet.  Don’t worry, no animals, particularly kitties, were injured in the making of this video. 😀

One year ago today, Miss Adelaide got rid of her broken and crooked left front arm, and she hasn’t looked back since.

High Five, pups and puppettes!

Adelaide has not slowed down….

“Can we play some more?”

Close Call

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , at 11:51 pm by

Before I begin, let me say, I do not believe in breed specific biases or assumptions about behavior.  I am against breed legislation.  And I recently lost my own beautiful and sweet pit mix.  So this story could have been about any large breed dog, it just happened to be a pit.
Adelaide and I almost were attacked by the neighbors pit.
We had just gotten home from work and daycare.  I got Addy out of the car and started to go up to the mailbox.  My neighbor 2 doors down has a blonde female pit and I have seen her outside unleashed all the time, but she’s always in their yard with them and I’ve never seen her cause a problem.  (Another side note, I do believe that a dog that you cannot trust completely should be on a leash or something for their safety and everybody elses).  Anyway, we were halfway to the mailbox when the dog sees us and starts charging.  My first instinct was to pull Addy to me and get in front of her.   Then I started thinking, head to the house quickly, and I took about two steps in that direction.   But then, for some reason, I stopped, turned back towards the charging dog, and in my command voice told her “NO”.  By then she was about halfway between us.  She stopped. I froze for a sec to gauge what she was going to do, and then told her in my command voice to “STAY”.  Right after that, her owners (one across the street and one in the garage) came out and hollered for her to get back to the house, and she did.  We got our mail and went inside.  Phew.  Had a little bit of adrenaline from that!  Adelaide really didn’t every pay much attention.  When the dog was charging at us, she had her ears up like she was trying to figure out what this was about.  Guess it might be time to get some pepper spray, only problem is I don’t usually have my keys out and if it was in my purse, I’d never be able to get it out in time.
Hope everybody else’s Thursday is less exciting.

Never a Camera When You Need One

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:55 am by

Why is there never a camera when you need one?  Or, if one is near, you can’t get to it without disturbing the subject or quick enough to capture the moment.

I have been trying to get a video of Adelaide doing a few things and I just can’t seem to catch her.  So I am going to describe what I have been unable to capture.  I’d say close your eyes and visualize what I describe below, but then you couldn’t read it. 😀

1)  Adelaide and Mathilde.   Adelaide’s relationship with the cats is a one-sided deal.  Morrigan wants nothing to do with Addy and makes a rush to her cat perch, or under the bed, or to her cat bowl.  Mathilde, on the other hand, will go about what she wants to do, but do so while being watchful of where Adelaide is at and what mood she is in.  Because when Adelaide is in play mode (which is still most of the day), she constantly wants to mess with the cats.  What I’ve been trying to catch is how she goes up to Mathilde and licks her and nudges her and at times puts Mathilde’s entire head in her mouth.  (Yes, the whole head and Mathilde lets her).  It is all done playfully and gently.  Mathilde is NOT thrilled with any of this, but she sits or lays there patiently waiting for Adelaide to lose interest.  Can’t seem to catch this on video.

2) Adelaide talking to Aissa while they play.  She has some sort of sixth sense.  When her and Aissa are playing tug-a-war or wrestling, Addy does her “husky” chatter.  It’s nearly the only time she talks instead of barks.  I’ve even hid down in the couch with just the phone up where it can capture video and as soon as that phone goes up, she stops.

3)  Addy also likes to stand behind me in the car and put her head over my shoulder  and rest her head down on the front of it.  It is super sweet.  She sits there for a minute getting some cuddles and then goes back to her position in the back seat.  Of course I can’t get this on video, I’m in the car.  And when the girls are in the car with me, I am on full alert to the traffic and what’s going on as a driver.  But it would be cute to be able to share this moment.

4) Tonight, Adelaide wanted, for some reason, to fit her entire body on top of a pillow and lay down.  She tried many ways.  Stand on the pillow with her front leg, but then the back don’t fit.  Try to get her back legs on, but then her front leg had to bounce off the pillow to gain her balance.  Turn around clockwise to see if that angle would work better.  Plum plop down and try to squish up on it. But nothing would work.  It was very funny watching her and her wheels spinning on how to accomplish her goal.  She eventually gave up and spun around beside the pillow and plopped down very hard, rested her head down on the couch in a big pout and let out a big sigh.  Defeated.  She is now pouting as I write.  Again, just as she was finishing this attempt, it dawned on me I should be recording her, but alas, too late.

Hope everpawdy else has better luck capturing those funny and/or sweet moments.

New Dolly!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , at 4:23 am by

We must have some more cuteness and silliness to help us laugh.  And Adelaide is ready to take on that challenge.  Her and Aissa got some new toys, and one of those is this very cute, pink bunny rabbit.

Tonight, we played a bit with the bunny.  Ok, honestly, we played with A LOT of TOYS.  Addy feels the need to live up to her name… ADDy.  Yep, A-D-D Addy.  Anyways, here is a little glimpse into playtime:

We hope everypawdy is getting to play with their dollies/balls/or sticks and having a ton of fun.
